Plaza 500 is an ambitious full-scale redevelopment project that transformed a legacy hotel into a prime market residential rental tower. Centrally located at the corner of 12th Avenue and Cambie Street in Vancouver, the site is at the crossroads of two major public transit routes. Phase 1 delivered 118 market rental units to the City’s rental pool – with immediate proximity to the Skytrain, the VGH medical district and the retail hub of Cambie Village.
Striking mountain and water views were preserved by selectively renovating the interiors and exterior public spaces. DGBK worked with the client to evaluate a number of redevelopment options, and to obtain all necessary permits from the city.
Ultimately, this 1970s building was transformed into an upscale rental tower, with full amenity package including concierge services, in-suite laundry, bicycle storage and electric vehicle parking. Phase 2 will see the addition of further amenity spaces including business hub spaces, fitness club and private offices.
